We all must begin somewhere, yes?? New owners of Com-pac 16. Great little boat. Past sailing experience off coastlines - now a small lake in Iowa!? Lovely however. Appreciate the opportunity to learn something new. The books indicate that this boat is nearly impossible to capsize. True? Gusty winds, up to 35 mph yesterday, made us question that. Wondering if any of you have experiential knowledge of this boat's true capability in compromising situations??

No firsthand experiential knowledge but

having read the linked review of this boat and seen a few photos I do not think you have much to worry about capsizing. There is a lot of weight in the keel that makes this boat stable and if you reef in high winds you should be fine on a lake in Iowa. Looks and sounds like a great first boat. http://www.sailboatowners.com/reviews/revread.tpl?fno=499.18&id=11387742572077680
