Hi We just bought our Yamaha 25II and we do not have any sailing experience. Could anyone tell us at what angle the boat will capsize? Many thanks Leung

45 degree

We have encountered more than 45 degree . No problem , In Hong Kong you don't have too much wind conditions to get the Yamaha capsize

Limit of Positive Stability

Here is a web site that will help you calculate the approximate limit of positive stability. http://www.sailingusa.info/cal__avs.htm Beam = 8.9166 (8' 11") Displacement = 3748 Ballast = 1433 Hull Draft = 1.7' estimate plug this into the formula and it tells you 128.61 degrees of positive stability. This formula does not take into account the location of the vertical center of gravity. Dince the keel is low and deep I would guess that the true LPS is probably a little higher. The formulas on this site are great. Also check out Sailing Calculator http://www.image-ination.com/sailcalc.html Gil

boats rarely capsize in any winds that you are

likely to sail in for the first year or two. Boats spill the wind from the sails as they heel over so it becomes self limiting. Your boat will always come back up on her bottom if the mast and sails don't hit the water. That is 90 degrees and by then you are standing on the walls.
