Capri 26 aft water tank

The 2 water tanks on our the Capri 26 are a lot like our 320 except I can't get to the rear water tank from the cockpit. I have a 1992 with an outboard. One water tank under starboard settee. There is another tank with H2O fill by the transom. How do I get to the rear tank? Do I remove the small aft Teak bulkhead and remove the batteries? I noticed that some Capri 26 owners have a extra hatch on that bulkhead that looks perfect for getting to that aft tank. This is our first Capri 26 & we have only owned it for about a month but I have owned several Catalina's.

Any input would be great!! Many Thanks, John

Yes, you need to remove the teak bulkhead to get to the water tank. We installed a teak door that allows us access to the dead space behind the bulkhead for storage. What is the issue with the water tank?

Yes. There is no access.
Putting a large hatch on the stbd side of the bulkhead behind the berth is a fantastic add. I had a teak door there that looked stock. Perfect match. Great access for more storage and I had by charger mounted back there.
Not sure why you need to see the tank. It's just a black plastic tank. 12 gallons. Your forward tank is 15 gallons.
BTW on the diesel inboard version that aft tank is the fuel tank. On the outboard version they just figured well might as well use it for water, because gasoline has to be outside per USCG. It's one of several benefits of the outboard version, plus vector thrust, easy to clear prop, easy maint, no stuffing box, more room under the companionway, quieter, no smell, faster sailing than diesel; with engine/prop up, half the weight, etc.
For coastal cruising and racing in good weather it's fabulous.
