I'm thinking of buying a Capri 22, what do you think of this boat and how it sails, What conditions can this boat take, Its a fin keel, is it hard to put in and take out? Thanks

capri is great

The capri is a great boat. I have owned one for 7 years--fin keel. I can ramp lunch mine but you need lonf deep ramps. If your looking for a good sailing boat, nice cockpit size, good performer then the capri is it. Sails good in light air and a good breeze. check our the website: www.capri22.net

I love mine

Just got mine last year, great sailor in light and moderate wind, very responsive. I haven't really tested it in heavy air, but I imagine with a reef in it would do ok. I also can't tell you anything about launching. I don't own a trailor for mine, and the bottom paint is still good, so it has been in the water since we got it. With the fin keel, you probably would be limited to long, deep ramps, as kws noted. It's a beautiful day sailor, since the cockpit is large, and can be used as a weekender as long as you don't mind "roughing it" a bit. I've been very happy with mine, and I intend to keep it for a long time.

Can't go Wrong

I bought my 1991 wing keel in Texas 7 years ago. I wanted a racing deck layout with plenty of cockpit for evening entertainment. Everyone else had a Catalina 22 and I found the Capri much better suited for the type of sailing I wanted to do. The deck layout is wonderful if you need to go forward. I didn't need a mini kitchen down below, so sacrificed it for the large cockpit. I trailered mine from Tx. in 2000 and haven't had any trouble with launching since the trailer tongue extension came with the trailer. I had to devise a mast raising system since the 27' beast is quite heavy and cumbersome. Now I can raise and lower it by myself. Its a Great Boat.
