I have a 1990 Capri 22 I am attempting to install a head. I have done most items accept a vent tube and a placing a holding tank. Has any one glassed in holding board in front bunk inorder to strap a 9 gallon holding tank?

I don't know that I've heard of anyone glassing in a tank, but there's at least one Mark II owner who glassed in a board just forward of the bulkhead so he could mount his battery up there. That's on my to do list. I think you just need to sand off the paint, clean it up, and then glass it in.

I'd ask over on the Capri 22 forum too: www.capri22.net

FWIW we use a Luggable Loo and Wag bags. :)

I had a 22 with a Porto Potty. Now I have a Catalina 30 with a head and holding tank. I am thinking about pulling everything out and putting in a Porto Potty. There is always a smell and if your lady flushes the wrong item, you'll hate what you have to do to unclog the system. Not to mention the regulations concerning getting rid of the waste. If you think emptying a portable toilet is a problem., wait till you have to find a pump out station. And don't let the authorities board you with the waste valve in the wrong position.

Our original C-22 had a full marine head with a 12 gallon bladder tank under the V-berth. And I thought I wanted a full marine head also on our current MK-II because it seemed like I had to always empty the porta-potty tank. I even went so far as to buy a new marine head that was a take-off on a new boat that the owner wanted an electric fluch model. When the porta-potty crapped out just before an overnight race, I purchased another porta-potty with the 5 gallon holding tank. What a difference this has made. And for that "other" call from nature, we keep a supply of Wag-Bag's onboard, and slip those over the bowl. You can safely and legally toss the wag-bag in the dumpster. I'm over my need for the full marine head. The porta-potty with the larger holding tank is working out well for my wife and I,(and an occasional guest).
