I am planning on going through the canal from East to West in a few weeks. Based on the current and the day I'd like to leave, the best time will be to leave Sandwich at about 11 PM. How difficult is it to make a passage through the canal at night? We plan on grabbing a hook in Onset for the night and then continuing the next morning. Thanks for any comments. Dave

the canal is very well lit at night. It is not a

difficult passage. Very wide with lights on both sides of the canal. No sail allowed, motor of at least 10 hp required by army corp.of engineers.

Bob - A question

Is the mooring area you are referring to across from Jacobs Point? On the chart, there is a long mooring area between buoys R26 and R18 right along side the channel. Thanks for your help. Dave

Don't know without my chart

Dave, Sorry I can't answer that without my chart which is on the boat. It's directly across from Mass Maritime Academy at the South end of the canal. The Academy is on the off cape side and the mooring area is on the Cape Cod. The put us up there overnight before and after the Race Around Cape Cod. When I get to my chart I'll look it up and get back to you. Bob
