Hi, I have another question. I am involved with our Coast Guard Auxillary Station here in Green Bay and I am understanding that some boats require a "capacity plate", which shows how many "POB" Persons On Board that particular boat may carry. I'm going to scan over my boat to see if I need one, but could anyone tell me if my 1972 O'Day 23' would require it and if so, where is it posted on the boat? And if I don't have one already in place and need it, whom do I seek to get one if it is required? Very Sincerely Mark Reiland

They are not required on a Sailboat ( were exempt)

In the Sailing Fundamentals book by Gary Jobson page 28 Talks about the Capacity plates. "Manufactures must put on capacity plates on most monohull recreational motoboats less than 20 feet long. Sailboats, canoes, kayaks, and infalteable boats are exempt" There is a formula: Multiply length in feet by the width in feet and divide this by 15 - round the result down to tne nearest whole number. Hopes this helps :) Alan
