Has anyone come up with a good way of protecting the connector to the drive motor for the AP when the wheel is off? I just don't like it exposed to the weather even though it hangs down.

A plastic bag with a twist tie? Or bag with a rubber band to secure it?

That's what I do now, problem is the plastic bags don't last exposed in the cockpit.

There are all kinds of little plastic caps around that come with other products that you might find if you keep your eyes open. For example the caps that cover the mounting nuts for my toilet fit the plug for my GPS (very similar to yours) perfectly and that's what I use. A hollow plastic sparkling wine cork fits an unused socket on the back of my radar. I have several plugs and sockets covered with these kind of repurposed items. Keep an eye out and you'll find something.

mine disintegrated a bunch of years ago. I just use synthetic grease on the contacts to help keep the water out. Works for me in a fresh water environment.

Hang it so it faces down, give it a little Boeshield T9 every once in a while. No extra parts needed. :) Good luck.
