Canvas and other gear

I am taking a sewing class during the off season and will be making myself a new sail cover for my O'Day 25 as the class project. Could anyone give me an idea where I can find heavy duty canvas, heavy duty plastic zippers, heavy duty grommets, etc? I looked in the fabric stores around my house. The stuff they sell in there isn't as rugged as I would like. I am in the Southeast Connecticut area if anyone can point me in the right direction -- or if anyone knows of an internet sight I would really appreciate it.I figure there are a lot of DIY sailors out here.ThanksEd
