I'm removing, inspecting, and rebedding all deck hardware. I can't reach the nuts for the forestay chainplate. I' thought about cutting an access hole in the anchor compartment, but don't know about that. Any thoughts.

I feel your pain. Find someone with narrower shoulders and longer arms. A socket with an extension helps.

What worries me is that I can probably rig something up to get them off, but getting the nuts started could be a problem.

I can reach around them. I just can't even get close to the forestay chainplate nuts.

I removed the drain fitting and the hose then I was able to squeeze into the bow and reach with one arm and just barely get to the nuts. It's a tight spot for sure.

Jerry,
My O'Day 222 has a small bulkhead in the bow that is screwed in place with small "L" shaped brackets. It was hard to remove but I did get it off to refinish it a couple of years ago. If your boat has one of these, you might try removing it to make nuts and bolts more accessible.
