Can't connect new primary filter to existing fuel line

After a transmission problem kept us from operating the engine for several months, we found that the fuel system was contaminated with I don't know exactly what. We flushed the line, took the fuel system apart, and were then replacing both the primary and secondary filters. At this (what we hoped to be) last step, we are stuck - the connection from the new primary filter to the metal fuel line needs some kind of "pressure fitting?" that we can't find. Tried the diesel engine dealer that we had been working with for all of the other parts, tried a suggestion to visit a NAPA parts dealer and talked to other boat owners but to no avail. I am now going into a second season without an engine that runs. Has anyone been through this before or does anyone know a professional that could solve the problem? I would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Not sure what "pressure fitting"

you're talking about, but have you tried a truck parts place? My Bene has a set of Racors and I don't recall any exotic fitting.

Compression is a better term

Thank you for taking the time to respond. A better description might be - the new Racor doesn't have a compression seat but the copper alloy fuel line has a compression fitting on it (i.e. it has a small round ball(diameter of ~10mm) at the end of the line). Does that info precipitate any additional thoughts? thanks for your suggestions.

sounds like a swagelok. Try looking at their website and see if this is the type of fitting. good luck. Mac

Checking the catalog

mac, Thanks. I found the website and am checking the catalog. Apparently, the NAPA dealer we consulted with before had looked there but came up with a piece that didn't fit. Maybe I'll have better luck. Hope you got to go sailing this holiday weekend.
