1985 26 oday with yanmar 1gm10. Foward gear is fine idle to full, in reverse idle only. seems to be a marmac shifter mod M 1093 D2. Maybe an adjustment? Did a google search and came up with two posts looking for help also. Any suggestions from the wealth of knowledge here would be great!!

I would replace it with a teleflex CH2100P if need be....and figure out how to remove the old one....

Thanks

oday 26 shifter

I have an Oday 26 with an inboard 1GM10 and the same shifter you have.

You possilbly have a "shift cable adjustment" problem. If the engine gets up to correct rpm @3000 in forward, then check to see if the cable moves smooth in reverse and that there is no excess clack in the cable loop that would allow the cable to flex outward and NOT push the engine lever far enough to get rpms up in reverse. When in forward the cable and handle are in a different position then in reverse.

I need to go to the boat ( Lake Keowee SC) this week and I will look in my books to find any adjustments that might help you. I will repost asap with any info I may have.

You can email me at kdssail@hotmail.com Dave

Oday 26 remote control assy

I went to the boat today and got my 1gm10 service manual ( a Yanmar Engine Repair Manual from Yanmar) attached are jpg's out of my manual for the remote shifter. My book shows a different type then you and I have BUT the adjustments on the engine will more then likely all be the same. I still feel that you have a bind in the rpm cable when in reverse. Good Luck let me know so I can keep track of mine.
Dave Slepoy...............I can not upload all 7 jpgs at one time. it willl take 3 responses.

Thanks for the reply kd! I did take it apart, clean/lube and put together works fine now. I had the cables off last winter wihile working on the stuffing box, fuel tank etc and might have hooked them up not just right....I did purchase new cables and shifter just in case but fixed it before they got here! Might change over this winter.

Thanks again for reply.

I am glad it worked well. If you need more info on the engine email me and I can scan sections for you.
I could use some info from you.... I need to repack my stuffing box...what size material do I need and do you have any suggestions to make it easier? Does it take 2 or 3 wraps of material and did you use a lub?

I removed the prop, shaft and stuffing box and had them recon at a local shop. They put the flax in the box so I don't know the size and I reinstalled everything. Looked like two wraps.
