Canadian Seacraft owners, CS 36 Merlin to be exact...

I have one of these, a 1987, coming in the a keel rebed. Have any of you done this or had it done on your boat? If so, what's the keel mating area material? Any sealant used around the keel bolts? If so, what kind? Any surprises when you did yours? This question would likely apply to all of the CS-36 and CS-40's as I'd doubt the materials and practices would change much between the models. Thanks.

On the older 36's, like mine, CS used a fiberglass putty mix to bed the keel into. I don't think it was epoxy based but has proven to have a long life. Mine is 31 years old and still bone dry.

I can't accurately comment on the Merlin's but I do know they used this putty for a while. If I had to guess I would assume they made a switch to a PU product somewhere along the way.
