Is it possible to trailer a Hunter 26.5? If the answer is yes, what are the downsides of doing so?

Yes Not that bad

We had a 25.5 and a friend had a 26.5 we both hauled them 350 miles to sail on Lake MI. We did this two years in a row and stored the boats on the trailers over the winter. So I would say it was the same as the 23 we had just bigger. I would not do it every weeekend but for a chance to sail some where else and for winter storage it was pretty easy. The only down side is it's a big boat and you just need a good ramp. Cliff

Can Do!

I bought my 26.5 in Topeka Kansas and trailered her back to Lake Guntersville in N. Alabama. If you have a good tow vehicle and a stout trailer it is very dooable. Only difficulty with 26.5 is the tabernacle the mast sits in is not built to pivot. I have talked to other owners who had a tabernacle made to facilitate raising and lowering mast. I agree with Cliff, it is not something I would want to do regularly.
