Had to empty the trailer I was using as storage for all my boat parts (business is finally picking up and we needed to use it for a job). I ran accross this item I had stored when I emptied out the boat last fall. Have not found any use for it so far or any location were to install it.

It is a 1 inch aluminum strap, formed as a half loop. It is covered with the original fabric Hunter used on the walls. Has two holes to install it. I forgot to measure it but it is fairly large. The floor tile under the item is 18x18. It looks like it could go around the mast. somewhere???

Does it look familiar to any of you????

Thanks for your input.

There was never anything like that on/in my 1979 H37C. The mast is not close enough to anything vertical but it does look like the size and shape. No clue from here.

i suspect it is a bracket for holding a propane tank, or, if the boat came with cng stove, then for holding that tank. Cng could be stored below decks as it is lighter than air, so look for two holes in the woodwork about the distance apart on the item. Probably under the sink or in the dry storage bin outboard of the sink.

unknown bracket

The CNG tank theory looks good. It could very well hold something round. The boat had an electric 2 burner with oven Princess electric stove when I purchased it. The P.O. was military and has kept every receipt since he purchased the boat, including the original cashiers check and bill from the 1979 dealer. I have every manual, receipt and service call ever made on this boat. No trace of cng or lp tanks anywhere.
The fact that it has original Hunter cloth material glued to it was the reason I felt it was needed somewhere.

Thanks for the input.

And of course if it was holding a CNG or propane tank it was not original. But many 79s did come with an alcohol tank in the storage area behind(starboard of) the sink. Mine had already been removed so I am not sure how it was secured in there.

Thank you for your input. I feel better now that I know I am not overlooking something important. I guess I will keep it and I am sure it will be recycled into something usable at some point.

Thanks again
