I hate my trailer. It sways like a drunken square dancer at any speed above 50 mph. I have been looking for a tandem lately and have come to the conclusion that : a) 99% of trailers out there are for power boats. b) New trailers are too damn expensive. So naturally I think to myself "can I convert the one I have to tandem?" Has anyone else ever done this, or seen it done? I mean, even if it was expensive, it'd have to be cheaper than a $5000 new trailer, right? Any help appreciated, folks! -J. Carter S.S. Synchronicity

Check this link

It's an example of a dual-axle modification made to a 26X trailer. You've got to move the existing axle as well as add a 2nd one so that the weight will be equalized over both axles. -- - Jeff

Consider torsion axles

Haven't done this yet but am considering it. Look at torsion axles. The either bolt or clamp to the frame independent of springs with hangers.

Try this link

J. Try this link. This is a dealer near Cleveland, OH who installs a second axle for around $1100.00 bucks. I may have mine done though I don't have the swaying problem. If you're having a lot of control problems, try shifting some of the weight to the front. The tongue weight should be around 300 pounds.
