Can you change a keel?

I'm woundering if a fixed keel can be modified or be beplaced with a wing keel? Is this a stupid idea or realy not cost efective? I love the boat but the lakes around Medford are shallow and this year we have a drout and I can't even get the boat in the water.I guess I just want to go sailing.

I don't know about the C22 but Catalina has a kit for converting the swing keel C25 to a wing or fin.

Consider selling

If shallow draft is a real concern, I'd sell the boat and get a wing-keel Capri 22 or a swing keel Cat 22. From what I know, the keels on the Capri 22 and 18 are "laid" into the hull when it's built.
