Hunter 2014 Hunter 36e San Diego CA
I'm new to this forum. I'm looking forward to communicating with other Hunter owners.
I purchased a 2014 36e Hunter last fall. I'm from San Diego. I have a few questions regarding the boat. I'll start with this one:

My "wood" floors have some scratches on them? Am I correct in assuming that the surfaces are a plastic veneer rather than wood? Can the scratches be removed / repaired? Am I also correct in assuming that the interior paneling is a plastic veneer?

Thanks,
Ric

Ric-
In our 08 36 the cabin sole was FlexiTeak. A PVC type laminate over marine plywood with another laminate on the underside. Personally, after having a real teak and holly veneer sole (and refinishing it once) and the flexiteak now, I like the PVC stuff because it's mostly indestructible. Hard to imagine how scratches got in it, but the flexi teak web site has maintenance instructions. Our interior trim appears to be cherry but the laminate wall panels... well, I'm not sure what they are. They look pretty good, are hard as nails and difficult to scratch, unlike the trim. Given their hardness, I would guess they are a plastic laminate.

Try very fine sand paper but wet sand it and go easy,I did this on my 2007 H-36
mostly teak wood and was last teak before changing to cheery and my walls wood type laminate.

Dan and Nick,
Thank you for your input and replies.
I worry that Hunter may have changed it's floors when Marlow took over. My floors do scratch like wood would. My concern is if I use sandpaper and it's a plastic veneer I may be in worse trouble.

Why chance it? I don't think that there are that many MH members that will be able to assist you. Contact MH and get accurate info. The rest of us are only guessing. Once the product is identified you can then ask the OEM to assist.

When I took delivery of my 2012 Hunter 33e, there were small imperfections (bubbles) in a number of places on the salon and cabin floors. The dealer was able to sand out the flaws and they then sprayed several coats of satin finish. The results looked great, like the original without the flaws. Unfortunately 6 months later the bubbles returned, so all the floors were removed and new pre-cut floors from the factory were installed.

FWIW, my 2012 e33 parts list shows "DECKING TEAK SEAFORCE 4'X6', Item Qty 25.16, Item #1036478, Vendor M-UL700"

I will be interested to see what you come up with. I have a few hairline scratches but it will only be a matter of time when a repairs will be necessary.

My floor is not real wood it is a plastic laminate and don't understand why it is
scratching easy and mine only had scratch from my trip from NY to Florida all ocean.
Did not realize a heavy box was scratching on the long trip out on the ocean and used very fine wet sand paper to help.

I called" Sailboat Owners", they sent out an email to MH regarding the material the floors are made of and what they recommend if anything to remove scratches. I'll report back with what the say. Hopefully I can do what Nick did to repair my floors.
I find it strange that a manufacturer would use a third party to handle product inquiries. I owned Mac Gregors prior to Hunter and they were always very helpful and available to answer product questions.

I am not saying anything bad but before Marlow took over I would call Eddie at Hunter
many times and he would call me back many times but I think he did retire I think.
I would call just some times and ask a question and many times call for help and always got a call or email back pretty quick.

I used the tech inquiry on the MH website. Because I asked a question about a Hunter, they replied with a canned paragraph (below). I was successful in receiving info from Becky Long at MH on 1 out of 3 tries. Her contact info:
