i have to remove a line attached to the top of my mast, the previous owner used this to step the mast. i wanted to know if the rig can hold my weight (150lbs) and if so, can i attatch the main halyard to myself for help or security? am i being rediculous? or can it be done?

No Problem

Went to the top of mine several times while I had her and I probably weighed about 185 at the time. Used a homemade bosun's chair and the main halyard. Had the crew winch me up but to make it much easier on them use your arms, legs, and the spreaders to shimmy up and get some of your weight off the line. I usually did it at the dock on a calm day. If it's a little choppy or a stinkpot throws up a wake, your sphincter muscles may tighten up a bit heehee Good Luck

Use two halyards,

one to to take you up, and one as a safety line. No sweat, though, your rig is designed for much higher strain than lifting a person. David Lady Lillie
