Well I found my 2010 Skipper Bobs Anchorages along the Intercoastal Waterways my loving wife got me for Christmas. Having the 6' draft is holding me up, no pun.
Cambridge to Cape May

Havre de Grace is rather out of the way. Just go up into the Sassafras R. and anchor for the night; it'll be much quicker.
You should be able to do Sassafras to Cape May in ~ 10-11 hrs., give or take, depending on current. As someone else mentioned, (and IMHO) you would be better off riding the ebb current down the Delaware then trying for ideal current conditions in the canal... your run down the Delaware is much longer than your run thru the canal.
Summit North Marina
I recommend Summit North. Continue past Chesapeake City & it is on the north side of the canal. Plenty of water, easy in & out, and it will make the trip a bit shorter the next day.

I have to agree to try and get as far into the c&D as you can for the night. Last May when we brought sailed from Cape May it took 12 hours to come up the Delaware bay, through the Canal and anchor in the Bohiemia river. And we made excellent time sailing up the Delaware. When had a favorable tide and Small craft warnings with the wind from the South south/east, Great for a run up the bay. If you leave the Sassafras in morning light I don't think you will not make cape may harbor till after dark. I plan to do a trip down in may or june.

Yeah, another recommendation for Summit North. Nice place and your much further into the canal at that point.

I've run Cape May to Sassafras R three different years ('06,'08,'09 .... came up on the outside from Norfolk), each time in 10-11 hrs, and that was going out and around when leaving Cape May (my mast is 58+'). Always, luckily, having a nice flood current going up the Delaware. Yes, I was motorsailing at 6.5-7kts (thru the water), but a Catalina 36 should be able to do the same.
If "Ron20324"'s distances are correct .....
"The bay cruising guide shows Cambridge to Chesapeake City as 81 miles., plus about 50, plus 13 in the canal." ....
then Cambridge to Summit North ( ~ 85 miles ) is a pretty long first day (and hard to do in 12 hrs of daylight). While I agree that Summit North is nice and would be a great place to stop, do you want 85 miles the first day and ~ 60 the second or ~ 70-75 (if you use Sassafras) ? .... take your pick.
