Sorry to post like this, but I tried tracking down Jim McKinley regarding Jupiter Inlet, but couldn't find contact infomation. Jim, your post about going overboard indicates you have a Hunter 22 and were outside Jupiter Inlet. Do you run Jupiter Inlet in your 22, and can you provide any local knowledge about it? I sail out of Palm Beach Inlet, and knowing the reputation of Jupiter, I wouldn't consider using it, without subatantial local knowledge. Thanks and best regards, Marc_B

Hey Marc

I've seen Jupiter Inlet many times from the bank but never had the pleasure (?) of running it. It's real narrow with rock jetties on both sides, no lights, and a wicked current. However, that doesn't seem to deter the hundreds of PWC's and powerboats that blast through at all hours. I was told there were only two safe ways to run Jupiter Inlet... during slack tide on a weekday or through Palm Beach Inlet and up the ICW. That's a pity, because there are a couple of nice anchorages just inside the A1A bridge, Peter H23 "Raven"
