Teak Strips
I'm replacing the teak in my cockpit with a plastic alternative. Have a look at the website for PlasTeak (www.plasteak.com). They have a plastic teak substitute which is amazing. If you call them, they will send you a sample. We have removed our teak, ground out and epoxied the screw holes, and will install the plastic strips with an adhesive. PlasTeak has quoted us USD 450.00 to supply the materials for the whole cockpit. This stuff will not stain (even red wine) as it's non-pourous. As you can tell, I'm wild about it.With regard to the transom. Mine used to be silver too as it was the original colour. The silver has faded so my husband used paint stipper and a wire brush attachment on his drill to get it off the non-skid. After a little polish, it came out just fine. Our transom is sitting in our garage (which made removing the silver paint a lot easier) since we're doing a major rebuild of our boat. I think the design of the transom is fabulous for the placement of the propane tank.
