Does anyone know how to safely dissolve calcium deposits in an aluminium water tank? I tried white vinegar. 50/50 for two days and nada...

Two days may not have been long enough

Try increasing to 70-30 and check back again in a week.

Peggy: Thanks it's always nice to hear from you. My water tank is 125 gal so would you still recommend close to a 100 gals of vinegar? John Fletcher

How high up does the scale go?

If most of it is on or at the the bottom, there shouldn't be any need to fill the tank any higher. Even if the scale extends all the way to the top, filling the tank only 1/4 full is a good way to find out whether a stronger solution left in longer is gonna dissolve it. If it doesn't, I'd say the heck with it and leave 'em alone.
