cal hin

My boat has had transom repair and I cannot find the hin- how many digits is it typically? The title says 18CAL but it is an out of state title and Texas Parks & Wildlife is giving me a hassle on the vin- they want a pencil scratch of the hull hin.

I did find inside the transom the number 18 printed in the glass so can I guess that is the only number in the HIN?
