I am in the process of buying a 1984 Cal 31, I am having it surveyed tommorow. First time seeing the boat I noticed a problem which niether the broker or the owner saw. When you remove the steps and look inside the engine compartment at the (stuctural) beam that goes across the boat the fiibeglass the bonds the bottom of the boat to the beam has separated. The owner dropped his price $6,000 to have this repair done. Has anyone else ever had anything like this on a Cal? I love the boat but a little worried.

ran it by our local 'guru' at our sailling club, he stated he'd never seen/heard of that, sorry for your misfortune
he is asking around and I'll let you know if he finds anything out
we just bought our 1967 Cal 30, you can be sure I'll be peeking under again to see if it's an issue for us
