Has anyone ever removed stanchions bases from a Cal 28. They are very hard reach the screws for and I was wondering whether there was a special trick. It's important as I need to reseal some of them because of leaking.

Unrelated, but I THINK I have a cal 28 late 60's model. If you have the same vintage odel (not the 80's edition) do you have pics? Also mast and boom length? Anything would be appreciated. My email is kranch@txucom.net

Two of my stanchions needed to be resealed when we purchased the boat last year. What a hard job, I had to cut away a small bit the fiberglass in order to reach the bolts on the inside of the boat. I also invested in offset wrenches. I did not receive much documentation with my Cal 28, Just filled the water tank for the first time and tested the water pressure. No problem, but I can not firgure out where the water is draining to in the galley sink. I looked at the bilge and holding tank and do not see it there. Any ideas? Also, do you have a switch marked "shower sump'? Does it work?

Galley Sink and Shower Sump

The galley sink drains straight down to a through hull fitting with a sea cock. The shower sump was (I believe)an option on the boat. It is a pump used to drain the the head floor of water. To operate it you turn on the switch on the panel then pull a seperate switch located in the head marked shower sump. Good luck with your Cal 28. I like mine quite a bit
