Cal 2-24 basics
Gary, You cant go wrong for all around fun. I own a 68 Cal 2-24 and regularly sail the chesapeake bay and do some coastal blue water with her. She is made of FRP, is flush deck, v-birth with 2 setee's and an enlosed head. The galley is portable and I use a pack at home ice box. LOA is 24'3" and LOW is 20'. Breadth is 8'. 1800lb bolt on cast iron keel with a 4'3" draft. The 2-24 uses external power. I have a long shaft 6hp outboard which will move her at hull speed. She can be raced single handed, or used to cruise 2 or 3 comfortably. She also has very large sail/supply lockers for a boat this size.(I have a 10 sail complement and it all fits) Good luck, fair winds - Mike.
