Hello, I have a Factory installed E120 and E80 but do not have the schematics for the SEATALK HS connection between them.
Does anyone knows how Hunter connects them? I do not see any network switch, maybe a "homemade" crossover cable?
Thanks

Miguel

Ok, here is what's going on

You have raymarine Classic e120 & E80 units.
The HS link is an ethernet -type connection, but it is not ethernet per-say.
It is a proprietary Raymarine communication protocol.
There are 2 ways that your E units can be connected together. Yours is connected as follows:
Between the 2 units is an 8 conductor ethernet-type cable.
But, the units have a cross-over coupler connected between them.
You cannot connect 2 E units directly to each other, as you need to swap the Tx and Rx connections.
So, behind the E-80 at the Nav desk you'll find a small black coupler which is the cross-over

The other way you can connect the 2 units together is through ports on a Raymarine HS Switch. It's basically an ethernet switch.
This was not needed with the Classic E series, because the radar is an analog dome.
In other words, on the back of each E classic display is a dedicated radar connector.
Once you get into the newer E series, such as the E-wide, the radome is on HS. Therefore, it does not plug into the display anymore. The radome plugs into a HS switch, because the radome is digital.
And each E-wide display plugs into ports on the HS switch.
I hope this explanation is satisfactory.
You can look at Raymarine's site for wiring diagrams.
bTW,,
I have a 49, and have a suggestion for you.
I know this is going to cost money, but it's worth it.
Get rid of your E Classic displays, and upgrade to the newer models.
You will need to change your radome as well.
The pan and zoom on the E classics is HORRIBLE.
I was never so disappointed in gear as I was with the E classic displays.

Thanks, I love your suggestion but I don't think my wife will...jejeje
Do you know if the IP address on the Seatalk hs work as standard ethernet?
Will a device in 10.10.167.235 subnet talk to a device in 10.10.173.41 subnet?
In a normal network they won't.

It is not Ethernet. It is a propriteary communication to the HS.

According to the manual any thing plugged into the Seatalk HS must use DHCP. Dynamic Host Control Protocol. Which means it must be assigned an address on the fly by the Display.
