Cabinet teak veneer delaminating

I have a 1990 Hunter 30, and the teak veneer at the base of the galley sink cabinet is splitting off (see pictures) - mostly due to my big feet when I'm kneeling down to access the engine. The problem, besides my big feet, is that the plywood edge is unprotected.

Has anybody repaired something like this? Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Paul

I have a 1990 Hunter 33.5 and had some delamination at the base of the stove and icebox. I did a repair by buying some 12mm Teak Marine Plywood and some Teak Batten Strips. I cut a straight line on both pieces with a Dremel Multi-Tool blade resting on a piece of 1 x 2 strapping that I screwed into the Teak Plywood to be removed with the top edge of the strappng exactly at the line of the cut. I bought the Teak Marine Plywood and Teak Batten strips at Boulter Plywood in Somerville, MA. The hopefully attached photos are of before and after. I used the same 1 x 2 strapping and placed it BEHIND the existing plywood extending down half way. The new cutout of Teak Plywood, after multiple coats of varnish and bottom edges coated with West Systems Epoxy, was fitted in ans screwed into the 1 x 2 strapping. The Teak Batten Strips, with routed edges, was placed over the mated cut line as trim strips.

Nice job nav!
The real trick for Paul will be going around the corners. Think very thin battens so they will accept the curve.

Thanks for the input! I think I'll use Nav's batten, but use it to replace the veneer. The plywood behind is solid. I'll kerf the back side to get around the corner. The tricky bit will be matching the color of the teak.
