Does anyone know a source for a lockable push button closure? Our boat has push-button closures on all the cabinets and I would like to be able to lock one of the cabinets at the foot of the bed in the aft cabin. In a pinch I suppose I could use one of those circular locking devices found on desks.

wait until spring

we have a smaller 26.5 but noticed it was no good putting new door latches on before two weeks after she had been re-launched in the spring after three months on shore winter storage. the hull on land had, if only very slightly, had changed its shape and once back on the water, the female parts of the latches had moved by 1/2 to 3/4" to the correct on-water "settled" position. no doubts about the storage - most excellent and reputable boat yard. may not be applicable to your boat - but could be.

p.s. / SW Florida

Try: http://www.boat-charters.com/cruising.htm It will answer your sailing questions. The US average age is 33.1 years. In SW Florida it is over 50 years. It seems that most of the population here is from Canada, Michigan, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, etc. Summer is typically mid 90's. Take your pick of temperature or humidity because that's where they both are. It rains EVERY afternoon in the summer and fall. It isn't just rain. The lightning is unbelievable. Get a group of boaters together and it seems like one in three has been hit by lightning. A 2000 square foot house on a deep water canal will run you approx. $300k. Taxes on that house will be ~$5k/year. You will have trouble finding an insurance carrier who will write a policy to cover you in Florida. They all lost too much money because of hurricane Andrew and are severely limiting their Florida business. If you are concerned about hurricanes you need flood insurance too! Water here is shallow. You have to pay very close attention to the tides. You will still run aground,,,often. You will run aground in the middle of clearly marked channels. Did I mention the alligators? he,he,he Half of the TV commercials here are for lawyers wanting us to sue each other.

P.S. Florida is awful

So Fla east coast is awful too. The bugs, storms, lightening, fighting off foreign rafters, hurricanes, I can't understand why anyone moves down here. Except I was sailing down Biscayne Bay in my swimsuit yesterday.
