On my 87 H23, the setp inside the cabin merely sits over the top of a small bracket on each side. It appears that it is designed to just sit there so that it can be easily removed to get to the cooler which is stored behind it. (lift out the step, slide the cooler forward). The problem that I have with this is that the step does not fit very tightly so will wobble back and forth if not stepped upon squarely in the middle. In fact, last week, my older son (teenager - big feet) stepped on it too much on the fron side of the step sending him flying with the step lifting off and smashing one of the slats where you insert the bottom floor pieces when making the "large bed".I don't want to fasten the step down permanently since then I couldn't open the cooler. Does anyone have a solution on how they keep their step where it's supposed to be and still allow it to be removed easily? Thanks.
