Does anyone know what is under the plywood cabin sole on a 30 or 31. I saw a friend's 1985 35 O'Day and it had a non skid fiber glas sole with only a teak grating over the bilge area. Looked great but I don't want to tear into mine without knowing what is underneath. Thanks, Paul "Tantallon" 31

Don't Know

I don't know what is under your plywood flooring Paul. Can't you see how it's constructed when you lift up the bildge panels. I have a 1982 Oday 30 and it also has a fiberglass non-skid with teak and holly plywood inserts over the Bilge. Are you sure you can't sand the floor and put a good varnish finish on it. I'm sure you can find new if you look hard enough, but I'm sure it won't be cheap.

More questions

I have a 1989 O35, and the entire sole is teak and holly (veneer), including over the bilge. Since there appears to be no consistancy in soles of the O35s, there's no telling what you have underneath. I would seriously doubt that O'day installed two "finished" floors on the same boat, but there's no telling what a previous owner may have done.
