cabin sole bilges on a 1987 23'

The aft-most bilge under the cabin sole of my 23 has a hole that communicates with some bilge(?) more aft. I thought the water is coming from the lazarette. The sole in the "head" also has one of those little holes draining into it. Where is this water coming from?Mark Seatvet

Trapped water

Mark, my experience is that the water pouring from these holes is water that was already in your bilge. Water trapped between the liners is coming out because your bilge is now dry. Keep drying your bilge with a sponge and it will eventually stop - providing of course, that water isn't entering the bilge from hatches or other places.

Limber Holes

Mark:Those little holes are called limber holes are are there to help remove water that collects between the hull and sole liner. This process usually occurs when the boat heels (hence limber). Periodically I hook my wet-vac up to to a straw and suck the water out when the boat has been on trailer for a while. - Kevin.
