On my 1979 Hunter 25 the two lights that are mounted side by side in the middle of the cabin near the bulkhead have been giving me a problem. The one that is aft works and the one that is forward doesn't work. They are both controlled by the same switch and it is not the light bulbs because I have already replaced them. The galley light and the light in the V-Berth work fine. Any suggestions?

These lights are normally linked in series on the same circuit. So, my guess is that a bad connection in the upstream light is the culprit. I'd check the connection between the two lights. Drop the lights so you can get at the wiring for each and check for corrosion. Do a continuity check between the two. My guess is that after cleaning or redoing the connection to the downstream light it will work. If the wire between the two is compromised, you’ll have to replace it. Pull a new wire to the light using the old wire. If you are not sure how to do that I'm sure we've got people that can help.
