Has any replaced their cabin lights.
I have the original factory installed cabin lights and am planning to replace them with new LED lights. It appears that the exiting lights are in series.(mine haven's worked in years)
Any tips or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, yes, lots of folks have done that.

www.marinebeam.com

is a good place to start, I used their galley light, warm white should be your choice, and any others your can Google will give you a variety of choices.

Your boat, your choice. :)

LED cabin lights run the gamut on size and expense and I spent a lot of time researching what would be a suitable replacement on my 1988 Mark II. I did not want to spend a whole lot of coin so I went with: AQUASIGNALS LED 5-1/2 inch dome light in white trim that has a dual switch for RED and WHITE lighting. Model No. 166027.:)

The fixture is a flush mount so I had to notch a small V in the back of the ring for the two wires, but the overall fit and appearance is excellent and the red and white lightly soft yet powerful. You will have to drill two new mounting holes, but that should be no problem.

Now for the price............I found the best buy on these lights at BoatersPlus on the web for a price of $39.00 each. Compared to Defender or West Marine this was an excellent buy. They do offer a chrome ringed model for about $20 more per unit.

Do your own shopping and decide whats best for you, but if you are seeking value, appearance and good light output, plus the ability to go "red" for interior night running and mood enhancement, these are great. :D

Depends on budget and personal preference.

I ran all new wire for all my lighting, good tinned marine stuff, and added a few $7 RV fixtures, reused some of the old fixtures also but installed $.99 LED bulbs in all of them.

. Not in series in parallel, but in one circuit. I have replaced mine with new fixtures.

I just just bought my 87 30 mkII, and it had all the standard bulbs in it.
I did a little research and scoured amazon and decided on these two style bulbs:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006R2RZOY/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm super happy. I like have LOTS of light when needed. It is no longer dark below and they use hardly any current.

There was one fixture, the one in the galley that the long 66 LED bulb almost didn't fit there and make good contact, but I made it work.
$65 total.
