Had my H34 for a year now and love her. But a cabin light bulb has burned out and for the life of me I can"t figure out how to replace the bulb. The fixture is one of those you turn the base to turn on.

What is the trick to getting the cover off to replace the bulb without removing the entire fixture.

Thanks for any hints.

Do you mean turn the lens cover for on/off? Turn counter clockwise all the way and pull down; don't worry, it will not break unless it has become brittle with age. The thing is, to remove the fixture you have to remove the twist lens anyways. Them plastic lenses get cloudy after some time and the on/off switch becomes erratic so I would recommend the eventual replacement of all cabin light fixtures as an improvement project.

I really want to replace all of my original overhead-mount cabin lights with new LED lights (bases and all) but can't seem to find a model I like.

If anyone's done this, I'd love to see some pictures.

Thanks.

ZDS, one of the first things I did after I bought my H34 was to replace the plastic overhead lights with ABI mahogany base with brass trim halogen bulb lights (my wife has vision problems at night). LED's weren't as reasonably priced five years ago. A red bulb was used in the one over the nav station--you can find colored 10 w. halogen bulbs in the outdoor lighting section of the home center chains.

Even the inexpensive aluminum ones at the marine stores are better than the original plastic ones! I now have LED courtesy units lighting the cockpit and the boarding side deck for safety at night. If I anchored out all lights would be the new LED ones.

Thanks Benny. Finally gt the cover off. I am planning on replacing the lights as funding permits.
