I replaced all of our with LEDs. Almost no current draw, nice light colour. I used Sensibulbs. They seem to work in almost any fixture, I even used them in the reading lights.

I agree that LED is the way to go.... but maybe you arent ready for that yet.

I dont know what the original bulbs are, but it should have some indication stamped or printed on the base of the bulb.
a 10 watt bulb would be extremely bright... I think you may want a 5 or 6 watt bulb for comfort of the eyes, as that would be more normal....

Thanks I had planned on switching to LED a few at a time to get a feel for the light level, but the dimmer makes it whole new game.

I want to switch to LEDs as well. How do you figure out which LED bulb to buy as a replacement? And do you have any recommendations on where to buy them? I have several 5" diameter lights with a toggle switch on/off. they are plastic, I cannot figure out how to open them up to get at the bulb. I also have the brass lights that mount on the walls and swivel and have a dimmer on them already. I cannot find anything on the bulbs or in the specifications that tells me exactly what bulb this is to buy LED replacements.

You'll need to know what type of base your present bulbs have.

You can buy them from this site.

Pry off the plastic dome with a flat screwdriver.
