Has anyone else had a leak along the upper starboard wall of the stern cabin? We reseated the stanchions, but find water in the storage alcoves above our bunk on the starboard wall. Can't figure out if it is a deck leak forward that travels back along some channel, or what?

Anyone experience this?

thanks!

Dry it out. Sprinkle some chalk about the cabin hull sides. Then, as @Don S/V ILLusion shares, hose it down.

You can also post pictures of the boat's outside (deck and hull). Someone may spot something that looks suspicious.

I know it goes against all logic and physics, but on a boat, sometimes water creeps uphill.

The chalk idea sounds good. She's on the hard now under cover, so I will post pics when the cover's off, but can run the chalk test. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Sometimes in a hard rain, nothing. Other times I find water. Thanks, Don and John

I had this same issue on my 376. We re-sealed the frame gaps on the aft cabin ports, that took care of the problem. The water was leaking through the port frames down onto the headliner then making its way over to the headboard. We used a little tool to scrape out the dried out sealant and resealed with black 4000UV.

I found details (and the recommendation on the fix) here:

Lewmar Old Standard Openers - known leaks

Otherwise, if you have Bimini hardware that may also be just above that area, you may double check bedding.

Thanks, Doug! That sounds like the same situation as ours, and the one fix we haven't tried yet.I really appreciate the link!!

We had a leak in our rear cabin. It turned out to be leaking through the chrome footing piece at the bottom of the pedestal guard. When the wiring for the chart plotter was installed, a hole was cut in the chrome footing to allow the wire to pass through below decks. Apparently, water was seeping under the footing or down the chrome piece and then through the hole cut for the wires.
