Cabin Flooring for a Hunter31

I am re-fitting a 1984 Hunter 31 and in need of info on where to obtain the wooden cabin flooring.   thanks, Bert Merrill

Locally is going to be best.

Bert:If you are going to be replacing large portions of the sole, you should look for something locally. The freight is going to kill you on this stuff.Look up exotic woods or hardwoods in the phone book. A good veener is going to run about $150-200/ sheet.I decided to cover up the sole in front of the stove/sink area on our H'31 with a piece of Loncoin (sp?). I got it from Catalina. I just glued it down over the existing floor. Looks very nice. We have berber carpet over the rest of the main cabin.

Call Hunter

Bert-Call Hunter directly and inquire about cabin soles from them directly. I purchased one a few years back from them and fit to a tee in my 28.5. I think I paid close to $300 plus $75 or so freight from my Hunter dealer. May be a little more expensive but nice being the right size and all. Good luck.Mike Mathis

Cut in half?

Michael, Did you have to cut your new sole in half to install it? I have a new sole from Hunter for my 28.5 which Hunter told me would have to be cut in half in order to get it into the cabin.ThanksMike

Cut it baby!

Mike-Yes I had to cut it. I tried everything possible to get it in with out cutting but no can do. I cut a line down the edge of one of the holly lines (basically centerline of the boat). You can barely see in when it is in place and you only have to cut around 18 inchs or so if that. I had to add some support near the back stringer (the one just in front of the engine compartment)to support the sole where I had cut. It wasn't that hard of job once you get into it. Hardest part is just taking the trim and the cabinets apart.Let me know if you have any more questions.Michael
