A friend with an older model 31 Hunter advised me that after a couple years his cabin floorboards had dis-colored and it was a project of sanding them down and re-coating them. On the newer models, does anyone know of the maintenance involved to keeping them looking good and not dis-coloring? We purchased out boat new last season and haven't noticed any discoloring yet.

Teak Oil

I presume you are talking about the cabin floor. Mine is made of Teak and holly and I just teak oil it twice a year, it takes the scratches out and everything, will be interestedin what other use. Have never sanded it down and it looks great. Good Luck

Oil the floor

I do the same thing as Alan. Every winter, I wipe the floor clean, then put on a very generous wet coat of teak oil and just let it soak in. It gives a nice smell, and the floor continues to look brand new. I don't think any kind of varnish or finish would be a good idea because of uneven wear. You'd be refinishing every week, and end up with a too-slick surface. I love the glow of the teak oil, it keeps the wood fresh, and it doesn't discolor.
