I am have to replace the floor in the cabin of my 22 oday and was wondering if anyone has any advice about this. The keel had some damage from the prior owner who, I believe, left water in the bilge and it froze - causing some of the bottom to delaminate - big fix - we will see what happens -- Algae

Tough job

Oof. I think that will be a tough job. The floor is molded in, and looks to me to be a single unit that includes the side settees and the v-berth. I really don't know how I would approach that other than just gutting everyting a taking a saws-all to the vertical pieces.

Absolutely Necessary?

I "inherited" a 22 with the exact same issue. My plan is to stop the water, let it dry out and live with a spongy floor. Is there a compelling structural reason to replace it? I agree it looks like a daunting job.

keel fix

the stern side of where the keel attaches to the boat is damaged - it appears that water was left in the bilge above the stern of the keel during the winter (maybe several winters) - I would not have noticed it but the keel was being pushed in about 3/4 of an inch - and a leak started two seasons ago -(previous owner fixed it with what looks like 5200 and it came loose in a storm- 6 ft waves)--- There is a crack that is not visible when on the trailer - (I went swimming in Lake Superior last summer to see what was what) anyway - Trying to save the boat with epoxy on the inside and outside of boat at rear of keel - grinding the soft stuff out and having alot of fun - I think that I can leave most of the cabin floor intact and spongy - Algae
