My 83, Catalina 30 has a light tan colored non skid cabin floor and I have cleaned it, but it gets soiled very quickly. I am considering painting it a dark color with non skid paint. Are there any other options? I really don't want to put down carpet.

We like ...

We have wood floors and actually use bathroom carpets at those areas which get high traffic. They work very well, easy to shake out and don't slide around (and are pretty inexpensive). I know you said you didn't want to carpet, but ...

John, a dark color will actualy show dirt more then a light color. Think about a piece of paper on a dark background vs. a lighter background. It might hide the "dirt" better but not overall the best choice (IMO).Maybe better to concentrate on keeping the dirt out of the boat with a mat (rug/doormate etc) on the dock as well as one either before you enter the cabin or just inside the cabin. You might need to use a non slip backing or some other backing to make sure the rug or mat does not become a slipping issue.Another drawback to a dark painted floor is that any chips or scratches will be very noticable and you will be just as unhappy. The cabin floor can be a very high traffic area and I wonder if you have created more work for yourself then it is worth. Any way just my thoughts Good Luck !
