Cabin ceiling water leak

My 1999 Hunter 340 has developed water leaks. It drips in through the access cover above the door to the head. Water is also appearing inside the starboard side storage below the seating. When I tried to locate the source of the leak (with a water hose from the topside) water began coming in through two of the port side overhead lights as well. I'm guessing there is a single leak somewhere and it is trickling to all these places, but I've checked the wiring harness, mast, etc. Any ideas?

Check the hardware, (Deck organizers, railings, etc), to be sure it's still bedded properly.

Don't totally rule out mast

The mast step design on hunters is terrible. That is why they started bringing the wires to the outside. If you have wires passing through the deck inside the mast, I would be willing to bet that it is leaking. I tried several times to fix this. It works for a while, then leaks again. It is to the point that it is only a minor problem at this time, so I live with it.

H450 Also Leaks at Mast

My H-450 has had a small leak during heavy rain events also. It is coming through where all the wires pass through and with all the silicone squirted up there over the years have not been able to stop it. It is minor and does not get onto any of the connections. It just drips down the mast step and into the bilge so I have now quit trying to do more to stop it short of pulling the mast.

DRIP

This same water leak drove me crazy, I found the two screws in front of and behind the center hatch, the screws hold that big cover over the lines, were stripped remove the screws and seal the holes with a good selant, there are enough screws to hold that down on the side.

Dripping Hatch

I "fixed mine when I discovered leakage from the screws holding down the cabin top piece that covers the Dorades and the sheets and halyards lead back from the mast. I fixed stripped holes and then I used silicone sealant at the screw location when I screwed it back on. End of problem #1 (this showed at the hatch, over the head doorway. Problem #2 came from the place before the mast where the wires go down through the cabin top, which really isn't designed right, since running water has direct access to a hole that has no curbs. And it is located at the same place where the water shed from locations aft of the mast pours out around the mast base. I still haven't got this done, since I need to build a curb or put a rising collar around the hole.

Cable Port

I had the same two leaks on our '98 376. Sealing the cover for the line organizers did the same for me. The mast wires are certainly problematic. You can order a "Cable Port" from Hunter for under $50. You can reroute the mast wires tne next chance you have to pull the mast. I really works.

This is what I did...

on my 31. I brought wires out of mast base and "up and down" thru a SS mushroom vent. Chose not to use the cable port since I needed ventilation badly anyway. I fiberglassed over the hole under the mast. Inside, I neatly ran the mast wires along the ceiling back to the mast compression post. Please excuse awful looking deck. Still had duct tape glue on the deck from keeping rainwater out during project.

Fred, I've been workin on this ol girl so long....

I'm starting to feel like a boat builder rather than a sailor. I haven't even taken her sailing since I got it, other than the voyage back from Mississippi where I bought it from. Good thinking though....you might be right. I might have to cut a couple of starboard triangle pieces to help the sheet slip over the vent. Planned to take her out this weekend, and darned if a (near) hurricane doesn't blow thru.
