Filling out the paperwork to put my C36 MK1 on the hard. The form had options on blocking the bow, high, level or low. Any suggestions on what is correct?

If the two cockpit drains were clogged to get 6" deep in water to poor over the companionway, thinking I've got bigger problems. Even if blocked hi, wouldn't that only increase the elevation of the companionway another inch or so? So it would flood at 8". If the two drains are clogged, water would still spill over the companionway. I must be missing something.

Down_shift,

I assume you getting hauled at HHN. I have mine blocked level as though it was in the water where the cockpit scuppers work fine. One year they blocked my bow high. In that case only the aft portion of the bilge would get any water from the keel stepped mast. They correct it for me. This will be my 8th winter. I go level.

Just my preference.

The idea is to get the water on the cockpit sole to drain TO the scuppers, which are aft, right? It's not the height or location of the companionway, it IS the scupper location, which is where you want the water to go.

You asked, help me understand why you're disagreeing.

Also understand we don't have winter here. Sorry.

While the boat is in the water, any rain in the cockpit already drains to the scuppers leaving no standing water. Would assume in the water = blocked level. I hope to knock out a lot of maintenance the first few weeks on the hard and will probably shrink wrap the boat anyways, but haven't made that determination yet. Figured working on the boat when level is easier than if blocked high or low. But then I don't know how high blocked high is. Perhaps it is negligible. I'll be there for the haul out on the morning of 11/26 and will get a better understanding then. Thanks for the feedback.

Steve - are you at HHN as well?
