In the attached picture you can see the issue. The bottom-most slug is above the slug stop for the sail-feed slot. If I were to reef the sail, the slug would be pulled out. Since the point of single line reefing is to be able to easily reef from the cockpit, I am at a loss as to how this arrangement will work without going on the the cabin top with a screwdriver and removing the stopper, lowering the slug, and then replacing the stopper.

Search these forums for "mast gate". It'll allow the slugs to drop all the way down, obviating the need to go forward.

There is a way to rig the lower slides so that they are attached to a ⅛" dacron line instead of the sail itself. This allows the sail to drop lower while leaving the slug above the stopper. The ones I've seen and used have all the slugs below the reefing points attached this way. There are 2 grommets at each slug position and the line is continuous between the slugs.

Sorry, no photos.

I simply reef it to that point. Never had any issues. The Main does not really drive the boat much. It helps with balance and tacking.

It's called a jack line.
