Hi All, I apologize in advance for my ignorance in the subject. I recently purchased a 1974 Catalina 27 and I am looking foward to change the rigging. To be honest the boat was always in fresh waters and the rig does not show signs of abuse but I don't like to take chances so... The first question I have for you would be: 1) How do I determine if I have a tall rig or not ? Would it help if I would provide you the following: I :34.50 J :11.25 P :28.66 E :10.50 These dimension were taken from my boat. From the archive info I tend to believe I have a standard RIG since the tall one is 36 if I am correct but I want to be 100% sure... 2) Where would you buy it from ? I e-mailed to CatalinaDirect to know if they have it but afte 2 days no news.. I am in Canada Montreal. Thank you for your time

Catalina 27 Mission Bay, San Diego
Magellan....

...good name for a sailor. anyway, you have a standard rig. Try calling around to local riggers and rigging supply companies and get some estimates. The general dimensions are available in the C27 association website. Go to www.catalina27.org and download the manuals and parts list. You can also purchase rigging from the manufacturer... Catalina Yacts parts dept.... phone number is on website... www. catalinayachts.com Whatever you do, I highly recommend you shop around. If you don't have to change the turnbuckles, and you do the installation yourself, replacing the wire and terminal ends is relatively inexpensive.

Thank you

Hi All, Thank you for your help and feedback. I have some one here that he did the rigging from my friend when we crossed together the pacific but I was simply trying to cut corners with something already ready and done... I hate measures... The boat was a contessa 32 and for the rigging they used "non chinese" stainless steel which apparently is the best... When the boat arrived to California there was a professional rigger and he was very impressed for the job. The rigging of a contessa is similar to the c27 except the back stay is a splitted one and ofcourse she has a bigger mast... The cost was about $1000 USD. Again ,Thank you all !!! PS - Proud to be a Catalina owner - Magellan is my boat name.
