Having searched the archives I am still perplexed by a problem I'm having with the ignition on our 87' C27. When attempting to start the M18 diesel I experience an issue with the key switch. Turn the key to the "On" position, buzzer activates, and then when I push the GP button it usually interrupts the cycle, the buzzer goes off and it appears the sequence is stopped. I then have to turn the key swithch left/right to get a good contact. Upon getting a good contact, and holding the GP button in (30 sec) I hit the Start button and get nothing, usually takes several attempts depressing said button before it makes contact and the starter engages.
Question? Is this a single sympton of the wiring harness needing attention or mutilple issues, key switch (needing replacement), start button (needs replacement) and/or wiring harness needs attention. I've read the the threads discussing the wiring harness upgrade and changing the volt meter to an ammeter. I'm thinking this is a harness problem but the key switch has been problematic since we purchased the boat last year. The "Start Button" issue began mid season this year. I'd like to fix this ASAP!
