So, has anyone here ever delt with improving the cockpit drainage on a 70s era C27?I'm finding that mine is rather sluggish even when I'm just washing her down!

First, get rid of the little strainer and/or enlarge to 1 1/2 hoses directly overboard through the transom.... instead of emptying to the OB motor well. There is plenty of room to install another set of scuppers next to the existing ones or someplace forward. Good upgrade if you sail where green water is an issue, or it rains a lot.

I have bought supplies to replace mine with a set of larger stainless cockpit scuppers. The old ones will be cut out and the new ones added on top of fresh glass work. They are designed for 1.5" hose I'd I decide to plumb them out instead of draining in the ob well

Thanks for the replies gents. Sorry I couldn't get back to this thread sooner. I've been thinking of putting 2 extra thruhulls mounted a couple of inches up from the cockpit sole, (above the existing scuppers), one on each side of the tiller shaft/post. Each connected to identical ones through the transom. It's not like I'm likely to be shipping a lot of green water on a regular basis, but I like to be pepared.
Thanks for the input,
Joel H.
