It probably does use alcohol
My original C-22 stove uses alcohol. I now use a Kenyon gas stove. The stove is safe per se, but can be tricky to get ingnited as sometimes a lot of alcohol ends up just below the burners and can make a lot of flame when first lighted. Might be best to try lighting it for the first time outside the boat. It should screw off the gally.I do not like the evaporation character of alcohol, that is the alcohol in the stove tank can evaporate if the seals are not perfect. However, the fuel is readily available and cheap enough.
