Aren't You Concerned About the Nicopress Fittings?
Dave: Aren't you concerned about the nicopress fittings on the shrouds? Maybe I worry about them needlessly, but in the winter, I always try to keep them covered and dry so that water can't get into them and freeze and pry them open. I made a naugahyde cover to cover the mast head (with the mast down and running from the bow pulpit to a crutch that goes into the gudgeons on the stern. My mast is also supported on top of the main hatchway by an old boat cushion). I had a cover made at a shop that makes truck covers and also does canvas work for boats. The cover was about $150 about 15 years ago, but it has held up very well and was well worth it. It covers the boat to about the waterline and is stiff enough to withstand the snow. Aldo
